WIP for "grand" and/or "storm"

This is the start of an untitled WIP that I started in response to the "grand" and/or "storm" challenge. I probably won't post to AO3 until I actually finish it. It's set just after Chyenne Noire in my Vegas series.

Note: When Teyla sings for Charin's funeral, I found the color of the dress jarring. So part of this is me dealing with that.

( Teyla felt stifled under the robes, but she simply breathed in slowly. People needed to see a ceremony and she needed to stand out. )

Weeks #523-526: Amnesty!

That's right, it's amnesty time!

For the four weeks of December, we're letting you run as free as you'd like to be. You can run wild and go with any prompts that are in the archive - no holds barred. But if you want to make it extra interesting because maybe you had something you started for a previous challenge this year but didn't quite get it finished? Guess what! Why This Must Be Read: This is set in Vegas'verse and it goes AU near the end of the episode, as in this fic John doesn't manage to get the Wraith killed in time and its signal gets through. So the Wraith fleet is coming for Earth and John's recovering after almost dying, at Nancy's, as she's still his listed next of kin. Beautifully written and with great characterisation for Nancy and John, this is kind of bleak, yes, as the apocalypse looms, but at the end there's some hope, and some redemption.

Why This Must Be Read: I love this story so much. Sholio hits it out of the park with this story where Sheppard considers his first impression of McKay then follows them through canon and the amazing friendship they are building together. It's sweet and fun. I've probably read it several times because of the humor mixed with just the perfect view of them. Sholio really understands John and Rodney and gets their witty banter down perfectly. I can't recommend it enough.

And! There's a wonderful podfic by Rheanna for it as well which I've listened to at least twice. One of my favorites.

Why This Must Be Read: Kodiak Bear Country is one of my favorite authors and she always right a spot on John Sheppard. In this story, she has John reflecting on his past and his choices as he and Rodney wait for rescue. It's his 40th birthday. It's written before we learned about John's dad and other stuff in canon, but it's not far off from what canon decided. I love this John so worried about Rodney while thinking about what brought him to this point. It's sweet, reflective, and a quick read.

Unfortunately, Kodiak Bear Country has all her stuff on LJ and fanfiction.net and not on AO3, but I still think it's really worth the read anyway.

Why This Must Be Read:

This really is for the Teen Wolf fans who also adore Stargate SG-1. This is a Stiles-centric fic from start to end but Stiles is a Guide who ends up with Clone Jack O'Neill as his Sentinel. It's a Stiles who doesn't want to be a Guide. And Clone Jack still remembers being bonded to Daniel. That's as messy as it sounds.

Add in rogue NID agents kidnapping Guides, a confused Sheriff who is not happy with the apparent age of his son's Sentinel, werewolves, NDAs up the wazoo, and a frustrated Blair who is challenged every step of the way by Stiles who asks 'why' about everything and you have a fascinating fic that brings some of our favorite people into one place.

Look! I remembered to post before December started this year!

Hello, friends! It's about to be December again, and you know what that means: the fact I am posting this actually before December 1 means

karzilla reminded me about the existence of linear time again. Wait, no -- well, yes, but also -- okay, look, let me back up and start again: it's almost December, and that means it's time for our annual December holiday points bonus.

The standard explanation: For the entire month of December, all orders made in the Shop of points and paid time, either for you or as a gift for a friend, will have 10% of your completed cart total sent to you in points when you finish the transaction. For instance, if you buy an order of 12 months of paid time for $35 (350 points), you'll get 35 points when the order is complete, to use on a future purchase.

Why This Must Be Read: This fic jumps right into Miller’s Crossing during the scene in John’s quarters at the end, and that particular moment always left me with a longing… I never realized how much I craved darker, more intense feelings, more desperate longing, and more emotional and physical pleasure until I read this amazing fic by kho! It’s truly intense and dark, but also so emotional and intimate, and it’s really, really hot! It’s just the right ending for this episode—don’t miss out on it!

Why This Must Be Read: This will be well known, but it's never been reccd here, so I need to correct that! It's a fusion with the world of the game "The Long Dark" in which an unknown astronomical event acts like an EMP and fries all electronics. John, a military pilot, is ferrying civilian scientist McKay who he's never met before across the far north of Canada to a secret base when their helicopter goes down. That starts their adventure on an isolated island in the very far north at the limits of survivability, post-apocalypse. The story's full of plot and action, and romance, and as LogicGunn says, despite some traumatic sections it's a lot fluffier than the tags might suggest. It's a marvellous story, gripping and often heartwarming and with lots of interesting survival details. In the end, despite the apocalypse, John and Rodney still have each other.

Why This Must Be Read: This is truly an exceptional, fantastic fic—I promise, once you start, you won’t be able to stop. It’s an amazing journey through so many emotions, and it fits their characters perfectly. Objectlesson makes you laugh at the beginning and leaves you gasping for air at the end because of the intense feelings and the hot, dirty sex—in the best possible ways.
There are so many wonderful little moments in this story. Rodney’s awkward, scientific, and curious Rodney-logic, and his step-by-step realization of his own feelings — while finally uncovering John’s deepest desires — are an incredible rollercoaster of obliviousness, humor, sweetness, raw emotion, and mind-blowing sex. They’re unstoppable, completely and deeply in love! It’s one of those stories everyone should read and reread. Go for it!
