Personal Fic List

To make it easier to access, since we're all about quick and easy in our modern world, I'm going to keep this master list up top. I'll add all new fic to it as I s-l-o-w-l-y churn it out. If I'm lucky, it may churn out at a medium speed  :-)

(For now, all these links hop back to my livejournal account, or another archive. Some stories have been posted to DW...if you prefer to read them here, use the 'fic' tag to locate them.)

Lucid Intervals 4/4 (unfinished) HP/SS

Title: Lucid Intervals 4/4
Author: Sundara
Pairing: HP/SS
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 17,127 (unfinished)
Summary: Harry’s magic talents mature earlier than usual, and the consequences last for years.

A/N: Originally begun many years ago for the Severus Snape Fuh-Q Fest Scenario #127: Neither Snape nor his partner are loud/vocal during shagging.  In a moment of personal clarity, I had to admit to myself I'm probably never going to finish this story...which makes a part of me very sad, because I adore it, I love what I wrote, but...it's not where my head's at anymore. So...here it is, just because I think it deserves to be seen and read. And, if anyone perchance actually falls in love with it and wants to take a stab at writing the rest of it, hell, go for it! Just let me know, and I'll tell you what I know about what I had planned, if you want. So, with no further ado, here's my languishing, errant Harry Potter/Severus Snape story.

Join Me and Stand with Dawn

Dawn Smith lives in Atlanta. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with a rare, but treatable brain tumor. Her doctors are ready to remove it, but they can't because CIGNA refuses to pay for the surgery.

Dawn has been fighting CIGNA on her own, but now she's asking for help. CIGNA may be able to ignore her, but they won't be able to ignore millions of us standing together.

I just added my name to the group of people standing with Dawn. Will you join me so we can shine a light on Big Insurance's abusive tactics, get Dawn the care she needs and make sure they don't do this to anyone again? You can sign at the link below

SurveyFail kurfluffle

Has everyone heard of the latest kurfluffle, SurveyFail? I just spent a while catching up on it through various links to blogs, posts on lj & dw....what utter asses those so-called researchers are. My favorite is this post:

http://www.roughtheory.org/content/wearing-the-juice-a-case-study-in-research-implosion/#comment-182110

I ADORE this:

Kruger and Dunning are interested in whether, below a certain level basic competence, it becomes very difficult for people to improve their skills - because they are, in fact, too incompetent to be able to tell the difference between competence and incompetence in the first place.

OMG---words can't express the love I have for that. Love, utter, utter, love. *love*

petition from MoveOn.org

Subject: Tell Obama: We're Counting on You

Hi,

President Obama will give a major speech next week laying out what he thinks needs to be in the health care bill.

This is a critical crossroads. The president needs to hear that Americans are counting on him to stand up to the status quo and fight for real reform with a strong public health insurance option.

I just signed a petition telling President Obama I'm counting on him to fight hard for a bold health care reform bill. Can you join me at the link below?

Thanks!

I've already done my good deed for the day.... Driving back from dropping my daughter off this morning, there was a work van stopped just inside my street. Next to it was a turtle in the road. I braked like crazy and got out to see if it was injured...nope. The work guys were just looking at it, sheesh. Asked me if I were going to make turtle soup out of it, HA. Told me I'd better watch out cuz it's a snapper, (well DUH). I think I must have had them really confused: here's this fairly nicely dressed middle aged woman hops out of an upscale SUV, and like a pro, whips that 12"-15" snapper up by the tail and plops him in the back of my vehicle to haul home. LOL

We have an area in the far back of our property that's rather wild-ish, and there's a huge ditch running between the properties on our street and the ones behind us on the next one, about 10 foot or so in depth. Because of the tremendously high water table here (one reason why no one has basements) all properties have ditches along all 4 sides, mostly shallow ones, for water run off, but in some case, like the rear one of ours, it's deep. And it'll fill up when there's a lot of rain, and stay that way like a creek.

Anyway, we rescue all the turtles we run across because the idjits around here seem to like to run over them (MORONS). Some of the ones we've brought home are huge...painted, snappers, all sorts. So today we have a new addition to the managerie :-)

This has to be the best quote about fandom in the history of ever...it just about says it all.

(gakked from [personal profile] monanotlisa , gakked from [personal profile] rahirah )

"The trouble with fandom is not the people who don't like the shows or the characters you like. No, the trouble with fandom is the people who like the shows and the characters you like, but in the wrong way. The people who love your favorite character but have a completely different take on his/her motivations. The ones that write schmoopy fic about a pairing that is obviously intended to be angstful, or who turn the light-hearted roguish hero into a tortured, alienated cutter. The ones who write meta that is consistent and well-expressed and completely missing the point. These are the people one ends up twitching and foaming at the mouth about."

insta-rec

Yet another instarec, because I'm just so in love with this storyline/series:

By [info]waldorph, her  "A Beautiful(ly Illogical) Mind"  or  (√π233/hy7 #1)  series.  (Star Trek reboot)

It starts off AU with Jim in a different place than the movie (although not overly different) but it evolves into something that has an underlying truth to it for all characters involved, in the movie, in the story, wherever...and her character observations are phenomenal. She touches into some elemental truth buried in these characters, and combines them in an even more truthful way that defies easy description...at least for me.

Go forth and read and enjoy.

(warning: minor pissy, selfish rant coming on)

*sticking bottom lip waaay out*

Why do so many people post WIPs nowadays? Does no one actually finish their story before they start posting it? I can barely remember what I did yesterday, much less keep all these WIPs straight in my head, so I end up skipping them, and hoping I'll see them posted when they're done.

IF they get done.   <---- yeah, see that's the rub with all these unfinished works.

(I should know...I have a notoriously unfinished series in an old fandom from years ago, and when I lost steam on that, I really really learned my lesson: Do Not Post Until Completed. No Matter What.  It's better for you and everybody else in the long run.)

My estrogen levels aren't what they used to be...my memory therefore isn't either.  This is damn friggin' frustrating.
